Untie It

1 of 4 categories for people who don’t want to give back to God

1. I lack.

There is no margin in my life.

2. I love money more than I love God.

I love God, but the things I can buy.

3. I trust money more than I trust God.

I mean, what’s going to happen if things go bad in the economy?

Most people want to be generous, but there is a gap between fear and faith.

4. I believe it belongs to me.

How dare God ask me for something that belongs to me.

1 As Jesus and his disciples approached Jerusalem, they came to the towns of Bethphage and Bethany on the Mount of Olives. Jesus sent two of them on ahead.Mark 11:1

2 “Go into that village over there,” he told them. “As soon as you enter it, you will see a young donkey tied there that no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. Mark 11:2

3 If anyone asks, ‘What are you doing?’ just say, ‘The Lord needs it and will return it soon.’”4 The two disciples left and found the colt standing in the street, tied outside the front door. Mark 11:3-4

5 As they were untying it, some bystanders demanded, “What are you doing, untying that colt?” 6 They said what Jesus had told them to say, and they were permitted to take it.Mark 11:5-6

3 Observations

1. Untie it

2. The Lord Needs it

24 “He is the God who made the world and everything in it. Since he is Lord of heaven and earth, he doesn’t live in man-made temples,25 and human hands can’t serve his needs—for he has no needs. He himself gives life and breath to everything, and he satisfies every need.Acts 17:24-25

3. He will return it.

3 Applications

1. Something wonderful comes out of what we untie

3 I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said.4 He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said.  1 Cor 15:3-4

2. The lender always get a story out of it.

3. He always returns it with a bonus.

Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back. Luke 6:38
