Unpredictable Savior – Week 1

The People that Jesus Chooses

13At daybreak he called together all of his disciples and chose twelve of them to be apostles. Here are their names:

God doesn’t pick the best, He picks the willing. Jesus chooses unlikely people to do extraordinary things.

14 Simon (whom he named Peter), Andrew (Peter’s brother), James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, 15 Matthew, Thomas, James (son of Alphaeus), Simon (who was called the zealot), 16 Judas (son of James), Judas Iscariot (who later betrayed him). Luke 6:13-16

1. Jesus picks his own team.

2. He Loves to use the unqualified.

26 Remember, dear brothers and sisters, that few of you were wise in the world’s eyes or powerful or wealthy when God called you

27 Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful.

1 Corinthians 1:26-27

 3. Your past doesn’t disqualify you. It prepares you.

God isn’t saying, “I can’t use you.

How can you respond to that?

  1. Say yes to the invitation to follow him
  2. Spend time getting to know him
  3. Trust that he knows what he is doing

Next Steps:

  1. Let go of your excuses
