Summer in the Psalms – Week 1

PSALMS 23

Big Idea:

When Jesus is your Shepherd, you don’t just survive life. you’re led, loved, restored, and carried home.

Why We Struggle to Let Jesus Lead:

  1. We Believe Our Way Is Better
  2. We Don’t Want to Let Go of Control
  3. We’re Still Hurting from the Past
  4. We Crave Instant Results
  5. We’re Pulled by Other Voices
  6. We’re Unsure He’s Really Good
  7. We’re Afraid of Where He’ll Take Us

Five Ways Jesus Leads:

1. He Leads Me When I Don’t Know What to Do

The Lord is my shepherd;I have all that I need. 2 He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams.

Psalms 23:1-2

 2. He Restores Me When I’m Worn Out

He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name.

Psalms 23:3

 3. He Stays With Me When Life Falls Apart

Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me. Psalms 23:4

 4. He Fights for Me When I Feel Attacked

You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings Psalms 23:5

 5. He Brings Me Home When I Wonder Where I Belong

Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life and I will live in the house of the Lord forever. Psalms 23:6

Next steps:

  1. Surrender Daily to the Shepherd’s Lead
  2. Name Your Valley and Invite Him In
  3. Return to the Table of Grace
  4. Make the Decision to Follow Jesus
