King of the Castle – Week 2
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:33
“Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.” Psalm 20:7
We all put something on the throne of our lives — our career, money, kids, relationships, or even our fears. But only God is worthy of the crown. Trusting Him means surrendering control and putting Him at the center of everything.
Why Not Trust God?
Like King Hezekiah, we face pressure to trust in worldly solutions, systems, and strength. The world promises protection, comfort, and success — but it always falls short. Hezekiah’s example reminds us that God alone is faithful, powerful, and worthy of our trust.
Four Types of Trust
1. Blind Trust
- Often seen as the “starting line,” but biblical trust is not blind.
- It’s built on the light of God’s proven character and faithfulness in history and in your own testimony.
2. Professional Trust
- Trust given to people because of their role (doctors, teachers, pastors).
- Helpful, but not enough. People can fail — God never does (Jeremiah 17:5).
3. System Trust
- Trust placed in institutions like government, work, or even church systems.
- Systems can let us down, but God is perfect even when His people aren’t.
4. Relational Trust
- Trust built through relationship and consistency.
- God invites us into a personal relationship, showing us His love and presence in every circumstance.
The Crown and the Throne
- Every day we decide what (or who) sits on the throne of our life.
- Work, finances, hobbies, or struggles can all take God’s place.
- But there is only room for one true King — and it isn’t us.
Battle Cry
2 Chronicles 7…for there is a greater power with us than with him
Hezekiah declared this truth: with us is the Lord our God to help us and to fight our battles.
Next Steps
- Identify where you’ve placed your crown.
- What sits on your throne right now worry, money, kids, work, or comfort?
- Step of Trust in God.
- Baptism, tithing, joining a small group, or taking the first step to surrender to him
- Lean into the Battle Cry.
- Don’t fight alone —trust God and lean on His people.
Closing Thought
Jesus is the King who lays down His life for His people. He doesn’t demand loyalty without love He gave His life so you could live. The question is: where are you placing your crown?
