4Lifers – Week 2

Spiritual Friends

In this series we’re talking about friendship.  We all need friends, but we also need a different kind of friend.  Spiritual friends.  Those friendships that will walk with you through life as you move in the same direction.  We see a model of these friendships in Acts 2 in the Bible.  These friendships can change everything for you and your family.

To check out a great overview of the book of Acts check out this video from the Bible Project:  https://bibleproject.com/explore/video/acts-1-12/

42 All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper[a]), and to prayer. 43 A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders.44 And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. 45 They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need. 46 They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity[b]— 47 all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.  Acts 2:42-47

We all need spiritual friendships and the Bible calls that our spiritual family.

These spiritual friendships are marked by:

  1. Understanding God’s Word
  2. Being together
  3. Supporting and encouraging each other
  4. Others-centered living
  5. Generosity

These friends had a shared mission around a shared belief of what happened and it impacted them and their world in powerful ways.

You need others and others need you. We all need these spiritual friendships with people moving in the same direction.

Next Steps:

  1. Get involved consistently at Grace River (or a local church near you).
