Bless – Week 2
Blessing people is living like Jesus.
BLESS:
Begin with prayer
Listen
Proverbs 18:2 – Fools have no interest in understanding; they only want to air their own opinions.
James 1:19 – Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.
Listening is loving.
Mark 5:21-34. V. 33 . . . Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and trembling with fear, told him the whole truth. (in another translation it says: “she told him her whole story”).
Luke 24:17 . . . He asked them, “What are you discussing so intently as you walk along?” They stopped short, sadness written across their faces.
Luke 24:27 . . . Then Jesus took them through the writings of Moses and all the prophets, explaining from all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.
Luke 24:35 . . . Then the two from Emmaus told their story of how Jesus had appeared to them as they were walking along the road, and how they had recognized him as he was breaking the bread.
Listening opens the door for truth to enter in.
When you listen, you love like Jesus.
Next Steps:
- Who is God bringing to mind? (FRANCES list)
Pray: God, show me who and how you want me to bless them this week.
- Listen to their story.
- Who do you tend to talk to more than listen to? This week intentionally listen.
When someone feels heard, they feel loved.
