Because of the Resurrection, Anything Is Possible

Everyone matters. Anything is possible.

Big Idea:

The resurrection of Jesus isn’t just historical—it’s personal.
An empty tomb is proof that everyone matters and anything is possible.

Early on Sunday morning, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance.John 20:1

She ran and found Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved. She said, “They have taken the Lord’s body out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have put him!”John 20:2

3 Peter and the other disciple started out for the tomb. 4 They were both running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. John 20:3-4

5 He stooped and looked in and saw the linen wrappings lying there, but he didn’t go in. 6 Then Simon Peter arrived and went inside. He also noticed the linen wrappings lying there, John 20:5-6

7 while the cloth that had covered Jesus’ head was folded up and lying apart from the other wrappings. John 20:7

8 Then the disciple who had reached the tomb first also went in, and he saw and believed— 9 for until then they still hadn’t understood the Scriptures that said Jesus must rise from the dead. John 20:8-9

Because of Easter …

1. When Hope Was Buried it wasn’t the end

“We had hoped he was the Messiah.  Luke 24:21

2. Death Doesn’t Win

  • Jesus didn’t survive death—He defeated it.
  • He didn’t just escape the grave—He crushed it.
  • The stone wasn’t rolled away so Jesus could get out—it was so we could look in and see that death lost.

3. You Can Have Hope, Even in the Unknown.

“If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9
