Ever Wonder Why? Week 2
Ever wonder why, I can’t be content?
The secret of happiness is not more.
The secret of happiness is contentment.
There are two ways to have enough:
- Work more and more
- Want less
How free would you be, if you could discover contentment?
6 Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth. 7 After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it.1 Timothy 6:6-7
8 So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content.9 But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction. 1 Timothy 6:8-9
10 For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.
1 Timothy 6:10
God’s path
- Give first – acknowledges God
- Save Second – helps us to build wealth – there is nothing wrong with saving, so you don’t have to work.
- Live on the rest – contentment
4 Keys to Contentment
1. Life is not found in playing and possessions / Life is about relationship.
The quality of your life is based on the quality of your relationships
Then he said, “Beware! Guard against every kind of greed. Life is not measured by how much you own.”Luke 12:15
2. Stop comparing yourself to others.
3. Learn to enjoy what you already have.
And it is a good thing to receive wealth from God and the good health to enjoy it. To enjoy your work and accept your lot in life—this is indeed a gift from God Ecclesiastes 5:19
11 But as I looked at everything I had worked so hard to accomplish, it was all so meaningless—like chasing the wind. There was nothing really worthwhile anywhere.Ecclesiastes 2:11
4. Focus on what will last forever.
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.Matthew 6:33
Next steps:
- Trust God
- Follow His path to freedom. Give First, save second, live on the rest.
- Be defined by generosity.
