Ever Wonder Why? Week 3
GOD DOESN’T HEAR ME
Prayer can be powerful, but it can also be confusing,
13 You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. 14 Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it!John 14:13-14
You knew He could. You thought He should. When He doesn’t we think–
- Is He not listening?
- Is He mad at me
- Does He not care?
The purpose of prayer is not–
- To get God to do our will. It is to get to know Him and for us to do His will.
4 possible reasons God doesn’t answer:
1. You have a broken relationship
I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours. 25 But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too.Mark 11:24-25
23 “So if you are presenting a sacrifice at the altar in the Temple and you suddenly remember that someone has something against you,Matthew 5:23
2. You have the wrong motives.
3. You didn’t believe God would actually do it.
22 The spirit often throws him into the fire or into water, trying to kill him. Have mercy on us and help us, if you can.” Mark 9:22
4. God has something different.
14 And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him. 15 And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for. 1 john 5:14-15
