Miracles – Week 1

Week 1 – What do I do while I wait?

Circumstances, regardless how extreme they are, do not have to be an off ramp to faith.

I tell you the truth, of all who have ever lived, none is greater than John the Baptist. Yet even the least person in the Kingdom of Heaven is greater than he is! Matthew 11:11

12 When Jesus heard that John had been arrested, he left Judea and returned to Galilee. 13 He went first to Nazareth, then left there and moved to Capernaum, beside the Sea of Galilee, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali. Matthew 4:12-13

Two reasons why Matthew tells this story:
1. It really happened
2. Matthew believed that Jesus did this for us

John the Baptist, who was in prison, heard about all the things the Messiah was doing. So he sent his disciples to ask Jesus, 3 “Are you the Messiah we’ve been expecting, or should we keep looking for someone else?” Matthew 11:2-3

Jesus told them, “Go back to John and tell him what you have heard and seen— 5 the blind see, the lame walk, those with leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised to life, and the Good News is being preached to the poor.” Matthew 11:4-5

And he added, “God blesses those who do not fall away because of me. Matthew 11:6

11 “I tell you the truth, of all who have ever lived, none is greater than John the Baptist. Yet even the least person in the Kingdom of Heaven is greater than he is! Matthew 11:11

28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. Romans 8:28
