Romans – Week 3
RIGHTEOUSNESS
Three truths about righteousness:
1.Our unrighteousness highlights God’s righteousness.
5 But if our unrighteousness brings out God’s righteousness more clearly, what shall we say? That God is unjust in bringing his wrath on us? (I am using a human argument.) Romans 3:5
But because you are stubborn and refuse to turn from your sin, you are storing up terrible punishment for yourself. For a day of anger is coming, when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed. Romans 2:5
For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Romans 3:23
2.No one is righteous
As the Scriptures say,“No one is righteous— not even one. Romans 3:10
No one is truly wise; no one is seeking God.12 All have turned away;all have become useless.
No one does good, not a single one. Romans 3:11-12
Who sets the standard?
- We do
- They do
- God does
3.Righteousness comes by faith
This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile Romans 3:22
NEXT STEPS
- Stop relying on your own righteousness.
- Stretch your faith by trusting God in the area of your life that you feel the most unrighteous.
