Big Announcement

Communion today

God calls us His people

From this situation David writes Psalms 34:1-8

1 I will praise the Lord at all times.I will constantly speak his praises.

2 I will boast only in the Lord;let all who are helpless take heart.

3 Come, let us tell of the Lord’s greatness;let us exalt his name together.

4 I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me.  He freed me from all my fears.

5 Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces.

6 In my desperation I prayed, and the Lord listened;  he saved me from all my troubles.

7 For the angel of the Lord is a guard; he surrounds and defends all who fear him.

8 Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!

We see Davids hunger for God’s presence in his life

We see how meaningful this relationship is in this passage

1-3

1 I will praise the Lord at all times.I will constantly speak his praises.

2 I will boast only in the Lord;let all who are helpless take heart.

3 Come, let us tell of the Lord’s greatness;let us exalt his name together.

In our affliction we choose to place our affection on Him

4-7

4 I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me.  He freed me from all my fears.

We are often seeking God for stuff but can I ask you a question what are you afraid of?

5 Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces.

You have been given a new identity

6 In my desperation I prayed, and the Lord listened;  he saved me from all my troubles.

Saved from Troubles

7 For the angel of the Lord is a guard; he surrounds and defends all who fear him.

The God who delivers will not disappoint

8 Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!

Communion Text

23 For I pass on to you what I received from the Lord himself. On the night when he was betrayed, the Lord Jesus took some bread 24 and gave thanks to God for it. Then he broke it in pieces and said, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”

25 In the same way, he took the cup of wine after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant between God and his people—an agreement confirmed with my blood. Do this in remembrance of me as often as you drink it.”

26 For every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are announcing the Lord’s death until he comes again.
