The Good news is not about what I can achieve in this life. News is never about achievement. News is something that you believe and receive.
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free. Luke 4:18
When we get Jesus we get three things
- Relationship
- Leadership
- Worship
4 steps to responding to the good news
Step #1 Interest – He lets Jesus Take him Fishing
Stepping into one of the boats, Jesus asked Simon, its owner, to push it out into the water. So he sat in the boat and taught the crowds from there. When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, ‘Now go out where it is deeper, and let down your nets to catch some fish. Luke 5:3-4
Step #2 Acknowledgement – He catches a huge amount of Fish something he couldn’t have done alone
“‘Master,’ Simon replied, ‘we worked hard all last night and didn’t catch a thing. But if you say so, I’ll let the nets down again.’ And this time their nets were so full of fish they began to tear! A shout for help brought their partners in the other boat, and soon both boats were filled with fish and on the verge of sinking.” Luke 5:5-7
Step # 3 Fear – He Tells Jesus to leave him
“When Simon Peter realized what had happened, he fell to his knees before Jesus and said, ‘Oh, Lord, please leave me—I’m too much of a sinner to be around you.’ For he was awestruck by the number of fish they had caught, as were the others with him.” Luke 5:8-9
Jesus replied to Simon, ‘Don’t be afraid! From now on you’ll be fishing for people! Luke 5:10
I am the God of your father[a]—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” When Moses heard this, he covered his face because he was afraid to look at God. Exodus 3:6
Then I said, “It’s all over! I am doomed, for I am a sinful man. I have filthy lips, and I live among a people with filthy lips. Yet I have seen the King, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.” Isaiah 6:5
Step #4 – Faith – He follows Jesus
“And as soon as they landed, they left everything and followed Jesus.”
Luke 5:11

- Assess where you are
- Acknowledge Jesus for who He is
- Accept Him as Savior
- Follow Him with your life
