4 Ways to Tell Others About Jesus

The Lost – 4 ways to tell others about Jesus

– Intro Self: Jordan // Worship & Spiritual Growth Pastor

– Recap 15 days of prayer, celebrate people giving up bad habits and replacing
this with prayer!

Mark 10:17-31 (ESV)
17 And as he was setting out on his journey, a man ran up and knelt before him and asked him,
“Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” 18 And Jesus said to him, “Why do you
call me good? No one is good except God alone. 19 You know the commandments: ‘Do not
murder, Do not commit adultery, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Do not defraud, Honor
your father and mother.’” 20 And he said to him, “Teacher, all these I have kept from my youth.”
21 And Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “You lack one thing: go, sell all that you
have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” 22
Disheartened by the saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.
23 And Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, “How difficult it will be for those who
have wealth to enter the kingdom of God!” 24 And the disciples were amazed at his words. But
Jesus said to them again, “Children, how difficult it is to enter the kingdom of God! 25 It is easier
for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of
God.” 26 And they were exceedingly astonished, and said to him, “Then who can be saved?” 27
Jesus looked at them and said, “With man it is impossible, but not with God. For all things are
possible with God.” 28 Peter began to say to him, “See, we have left everything and followed
you.” 29 Jesus said, “Truly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters
or mother or father or children or lands, for my sake and for the gospel, 30 who will not receive a
hundredfold now in this time, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and
lands, with persecutions, and in the age to come eternal life. 31 But many who are first will be
last, and the last first.”

4 ways to tell others about Jesus
1. Pray that God would use you
– I’m a goof 2.0 HS & 2.0 BBC somehow God is using me, not quick-witted or
smart but still, God uses me.
– We are called to more than a paycheck
If you’re a Teacher – you help educate students
If you’re a nurse – you help others feel better
If you’re a dentist – you fix peoples teeth
Bottom line: You are called to tell others how Jesus changed your life
– Acts 4:13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived
that they were uneducated, common men, they were astonished. And they
recognized that they had been with Jesus. —– God isn’t looking for you to be
perfect He’s looking for you to be willing
– “The reason you might not find joy at work is that you’re called to
something more”
LET THAT SINK IN!!!
– Ask Him to give you the courage to do it, don’t be passive, afraid of what work
will say, Something that we’d love to hear is that we’d be so passionate about
telling people about Jesus in our workplace that you’d get into trouble at work for
it…not too much but hey let’s get written up for telling others about Jesus

2. Plug into a Small Group
– Sign-ups are in the lobby or online graceriver.cc/smallgroups
– Starts the week of February 14th (Explain what a group does and is)
– 3 KINDS OF GROUPS, 1) In person in homes 2) church building safely distanced 3)
Zoom Only
– Small Groups are a place where you come together to grow in your spiritual
journey, work through challenges, and pray for one another. You push each other
to draw closer to Jesus and start really loving others.
– We have countless stories of life-change that has happened within small groups.
“Push the reset button and get involved, we know life is messy but it’s better to
be done together than on your own.”

3. Create a 5X5
– Let’s be laser-focused on who it is we’re talking to about Jesus
– Actually, get to know someone and build relationships and talk through timelines
on Blake, Jim, & Chris Mcdonald — Seed sowing 1 Cor 3:6 I planted, Apollos
watered, but God gave the growth.
– Success in this is when God changes there heart not when we become the hero.
– Sticky notes, memos on your phone and create them “who do I know that doesn’t
have a relationship with Jesus?”
– Idiom: If you’ve known me long then you know Idioms are something I don’t know
much of. So much so that someone who will go unnamed had to buy me this
book to educate me. Open up the book and use towards last point “Rich young
ruler was so close” (Online drop a comment if you knew it or not and in-person
have them raise their hands)
– What a joy it is when someone comes off your 5X5 list

4. Respond to the gospel
– Do I have a relationship with Jesus?
– If No, then let’s talk through it…if yes, then let’s respond and live like something
has happened no guilt here but also truthful
– “You can’t take people somewhere you haven’t been yourself”
– “The deepest thing you can do is share Jesus with others”
– 9 out of 10 will never share their faith, let’s push the reset on that! Could you
imagine if 100% of us took this call seriously?

– WHAT’S YOUR NEXT STEP?
1. Surrendering your life to Jesus?
2. Joining a Small Group
3. praying for God to use you?
4. Create a 5X5
– The most important next steps are surrendering to Jesus if you don’t have a
relationship with Jesus and if you do, Creating the 5X5

– PRAYER MOMENT: Sinners prayer THEN take 1 minute to pray for the number
one person on your list and to apply what we’ve talked about today.

(GUIDED PRAYER TO END) Father, thank you for Jesus! Thank you for
the hope we have in the cross and the grave, show us who it is you want us to
reach, give us the courage to carry it out, to tell others about you! Let them finish
the rest of their prayer.
