Divided by Politics

Online Church

I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me.John 17:23

How to engage in politics

  1.  Treat people like people that God loves and not voting blocks

And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.

Luke 12:7

You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.  Psalm 56:8

  1.  Keep the main thing the main thing

Two approaches

  1.  Get educated on the issues

  1.  Lead People To Jesus

And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. 2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Romans 12:1-2

20 When I was with the Jews, I lived like a Jew to bring the Jews to Christ. 21 When I am with the Gentiles who do not follow the Jewish law,[a] I too live apart from that law so I can bring them to Christ. I try to find common ground with everyone, doing everything I can to save some. 23 I do everything to spread the Good News and share in its blessings

1 Corinthians 9:20-23

If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 1 Corinthians 13:1

Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. 3 Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.

Ephesians 4:2-3

Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.”

John 13:35

  1.  Trust that God has a plan

Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God.

Romans 13:1

I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. 2 Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity 1 Timothy 2:1-2

Jesus answered, “My Kingdom is not an earthly kingdom. If it were, my followers would fight to keep me from being handed over to the Jewish leaders. But my Kingdom is not of this world.”

John 18:36
